Host a Musician: Be at the Heart of the Music

Peterborough Symphony invites you to become more than just an audience member — open your home and heart by hosting one of our talented musicians during their concert visit. By offering your home, you can forge a unique connection with the musical artists who bring our concerts to life. Not only will you enjoy the enriching experience of close interaction, but you might also be treated to an impromptu private concert! Join this special group of supporters who provide a warm, welcoming space for our musicians. By housing a musician, you not only contribute to the Symphony’s mission but also engage with the music community and contribute in a meaningful way to the arts in the Peterborough area.

Host Housing Program Registration 2025-26

Many of our musicians travel to Peterborough from all over Ontario and we are so grateful to patrons like you for opening your homes to them. Thank you for being a part of our extended Symphony family.

What are the requirements for housing a musician?

Each musician needs a private room that is comfortable and has easy access to a bathroom. Hosts generally provide breakfasts during the stay but no other meals.

How do I register to host a musician?

Complete the electronic form below.

What happens after you register?

Once you’ve completed the form, we will reach out to you to arrange for a home interview.

How many nights per concert weekends are involved?

That depends upon the number of rehearsals and concert performances. A final schedule for the 2025/26 season will be added to this page and forwarded by email to hosts by July 31st, 2025.

How are hosts paired with musicians?

Although we do our best to meet the requests of musicians and host families, assigning billets is a juggling act. For each concert, we look at a variety of factors including gender, pet allergies, accessibility and car-pooling arrangements before we match up musicians and host families.

A week before each concert, we will reach out to both hosts and musicians by email to introduce you to each other. You will then communicate directly to exchange contact information, arrange arrival times, discuss food allergies, etcetera.

What do I do if my availability changes?

We understand your plans may change. Please email me at info@thepso.org or call 705-742-1992 as soon as possible as we may need to rent motel rooms for musicians who don’t receive host housing. Since hotel rates often increase as the dates get closer, the earlier we know the better.

What if I have other questions?

Feel free to contact Brenda at info@thepso.org or call the PSO office at 705-742-1992.
