About Us
Peterborough Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit charity located in downtown Peterborough, Ontario that is committed to serving our community through high quality orchestral performances, education and engagement. For 60 years, the PSO has been a cultural cornerstone of the Peterborough area, and has a reputation as one of the finest community-based orchestras in Canada.
The PSO was founded in 1967. It is an orchestra comprised of professional as well as high-level locally-based musicians. Throughout the concert season, the orchestra rehearses weekly and performs five main series concerts at Showplace Performance Centre. The PSO has offered other community-based experiences including instrument petting zoos for children at the library and Musical Nature Walks. Whenever possible, the orchestra participates at community events and special performances.
