About Us
Peterborough Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit charity located in downtown Peterborough, Ontario that is committed to serving our community through high quality orchestral performances, education and engagement. For over 50 years, the PSO has been a cultural cornerstone of the Peterborough area, and has a reputation as one of the finest community-based orchestras in Canada.
The PSO was founded in 1967. Today, it is an orchestra comprised of professional and high-level locally-based volunteer musicians. Throughout the concert season, the orchestra rehearses weekly and performs five main series concerts at Showplace Performance Centre. Whenever possible, the orchestra participates at community events including Peterborough Pulse, area farmers’ markets or special performances and festivals, such as Peterborough’s Canada150 celebrations, Cirque Musica 2017, Artsweek Peterborough and Peterborough Musicfest 2017.
