BALFOUR | DVORAK | RACHMANINOV
DAVID JALBERT, PIANO MICHAEL NEWNHAM, CONDUCTOR
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2024 AT 7:30PM SHOWPLACE PERFORMANCE CENTRE
Meet the Maestro Pre-Concert Talk at 6:45PM
Two of the most iconic romantic pieces. Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8 is one of his most beloved works, steeped in Czech folk rhythms and yearning melodies. Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto is a show-stopper of pianistic and orchestral fire-works, made famous through the movie “Shine”. The PSO will be joined by one of Canada’s foremost piano virtuosos and one of Peterborough’s great friends, David Jalbert.
To open the concert, we perform Andrew Balfour’s “Pyotr’s Dream”, influenced by the music of Tchaikovsky.
