After a successful fall series of classes focused on composers, the PSO’s Maestro Michael Newnham is back at the podium teaching the “History of Opera in Eight Weeks.”
This is sure to be a popular series. For more than 400 years, opera has thrilled, moved, fascinated and even sometimes angered audiences. It is where all of the arts meet: music, drama, design and dance. Maestro Newnham’s course will take a journey from opera’s beginnings, visiting some of its greatest masterpieces.
Held at Trent’s Traill College, Scott House room 105, the workshops run every Tuesday from April 10 through June 5 (there will be no class on May 15). The cost is $20 per workshop, plus HST. Registrants can sign-up online at www.regonline.com/historyofopera, or in-person with cash or cheque at Scott House, Room 102.4 at 300 London St. in Peterborough, Monday through Friday, 9am to 3:30pm.
