Peterborough Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit charity located in downtown Peterborough, Ontario that is committed to presenting high quality orchestral performances, education and outreach in the communities we serve. For over 50 years, the PSO has been a cultural cornerstone of the Peterborough community, and has a reputation as one of the finest community-based orchestras in Canada.
The PSO was founded in 1967. It has since grown in size to a group of approximately 40 regular players, comprised of a core of volunteer musicians and five professional principal string players. Throughout the concert season, the orchestra rehearses weekly at Trinity United Church and performs five main series concerts at Showplace Performance Centre. Whenever possible, the orchestra participates at community events including Peterborough Pulse, area farmers’ markets or special performances and festivals, such as Peterborough’s Canada150 celebrations, Cirque Musica 2017, Artsweek Peterborough and Peterborough Musicfest 2017 (photographed by Caleb Pedosiuk and featured below).
