The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce that Sarah Lazure, previously the part-time Artistic Producer of the Symphony, has agreed to become its Interim General Manager. The appointment follows the resignation of Deanna Guttman as Executive Director. The board accepted Deanna’s resignation with real regret, coupled with sincere thanks for all that Deanna accomplished in her term as Executive Director.
The directors of the Symphony, including Michael Newnham as our Music Director, look forward to working with Sarah in her new, full-time role. Michael speaks for all of us:
“Over the past three seasons, Sarah has been in on the ground floor of the PSO’s artistic and logistical planning. Her energy and commitment to excellence in everything she does has been a very large reason for the success that the orchestra has been experiencing in increasing its audiences and expanding its profile in our community. I am greatly looking forward to working even more closely with Sarah this season as she broadens her role within the PSO.”
The directors of the Symphony include two welcome new faces: Nancy Westaway, previously a board member with (amongst many others) the TSO and Roy Thomson Hall and a former chair of the Brantford Symphony; and Sarah Deeth, a videographer and reporter with CHEX television in Peterborough. Len Lifchus, CEO of the United Way of Peterborough & District from 1999 to 2009 and a former PSO board member, is also providing support to Sarah and to the Symphony through the transition.
Sarah adds: “We have a strong team ready to manage this transition and continue the great work done over the last few seasons. I’m excited for the opportunity to expand my role at the PSO.”
